Important XL wall sconce produced in Sweden during the 1950s.
This rare and highly sculptural piece employs an unusual technique of embedding colored glass fragments into textured concrete, evoking the tradition of stained glass reinterpreted through the lens of Scandinavian Brutalism. Both architectural and artistic, it stands as a remarkable example of post-war Nordic experimentation with light, material, and texture.
This particular version features glass fragments in rich shades of red, creating a powerful visual presence even when unlit. Once illuminated, the embedded glass comes alive, transforming the surface into a glowing composition of warm translucent tones. The contrast between the raw mineral character of the concrete and the luminous intensity of the glass produces a dramatic and captivating effect.
Monumental in scale and deeply expressive in materiality, this piece functions as both lighting and wall sculpture. Its strong architectural presence makes it particularly suited to interiors seeking a unique focal point and a highly atmospheric source of light.
A rare collectible work distinguished by its exceptional scale, handcrafted construction, and striking brutalist aesthetic.
