Pair of vintage wall sconces designed by French designer Jean-Pierre Vitrac for the prestigious lighting publisher Verre Lumière during the 1980s.

Renowned for its collaborations with some of the most influential French designers including Pierre Paulin, Joseph-André Motte, and Michel Boyer, Verre Lumière developed a distinctive vision of architectural lighting rooted in material quality and geometric precision. Vitrac’s creations perfectly embody this refined modernist approach.

This pair stands out through the strong contrast between its lacquered white metal structure and its highly textured glass panel. Thick, frosted, and subtly undulating, the glass is crossed by a delicate steel wire mesh, creating a unique “wired glass” effect that softly diffuses light while adding rhythm and depth to the composition.

Both sculptural and restrained, these sconces combine industrial rigor with timeless French minimalism. Their balanced proportions and graphic presence allow them to integrate naturally into contemporary, modernist or more radical architectural interiors.

A rare and highly distinctive pair representative of collectible French lighting design.
