Pair of vintage Holophane opaline and prismatic glass wall sconces, produced in France during the 1950s.
Each sconce features a distinctive circular composition combining a smooth white opaline glass surround with a central prismatic glass diffuser. Its concentric relief creates a particularly graphic appearance while helping to diffuse and distribute the light.
When illuminated, the central prismatic glass captures and refracts the light while the opaline surround produces a softer glow, creating a warm and atmospheric lighting effect. The sculptural quality of the glass also makes the sconces particularly decorative when switched off.
With their rounded silhouette, generous glass construction and characteristic optical design, these wall lights beautifully reflect the functional yet refined approach of mid-century French lighting.
